Around Here: Birthday parties and spring projects

If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know that I don’t normally share personal posts. One of my goals this year is to be more open with you and share more of my personal experiences and stories. My hope is to connect with you and all of the Krafty Planner Tribe on a deeper, more personal level. If there’s anything you would like to know, leave a comment or send me an email. I love hearing from you and will respond as soon as I am can.

We live in Seneca Falls, New York, which is in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region. Our little town is the birthplace of women’s rights and home to the National Women’s Hall of Fame. When I was younger I didn’t realize how beautiful this area is and what it has to offer, but I’ve since grown to appreciate it and know how truly lucky we are to live here.

Now that the weather is warming up, -Hello Spring!- I can’t wait to take little Hunter for a walks in the park, down by the (Erie) canal or at one of lakes. A favorite spot in the summer is Sodus Point on the shore of Lake Ontario. I love walking on the pier and spending a quiet afternoon at the Bluffs watching the water and soaking up the sun. The view is amazing and there are a bunch of great little shops and waterfront restaurants to check out.

One of those restaurants, Captain Jack’s Good Time Tavern gives you free chicken wings on your birthday. You have to go on your actual birthday and show them your ID but they will give you one wing for each year. Pretty awesome right?! We went last week for my daughter and we’re going back next month for Nana’s 88th birthday. Can you imagine 88 wings, for free? I will be sure to take a picture for you before we dig in.

Here’s the 26 wings my daughter got and I think she picked the Country Sweet sauce, they were mm-mm good!

Next month is also my grandson first birthday. We’re going to have a Mickey Mouse themed Hot Diggity Dog Party! We’re all really excited and have been busy making the invitations and decorations. I may have went a little overboard on the decorations, but hey, you only get your first grandson’s, first birthday once, so why not go a little overboard. Right?!

I love the invitations don’t you? In the picture you can see a hole punch at the top of the information circle. That’s for a pull tab made from yellow polka dot ribbon. I also made a bunch smaller Mickey heads we’re going to string up for garland and then hundreds of the little confetti pieces you can see in the picture. I will share some pic’s after the party so you can check out all the fun decorations.

My Spring Project

I have way too much clutter around the house and now that the baby is walking it’s time to get rid of it all! My big spring project this year is to completely declutter the entire house. Including bigger items like furniture we don’t use and all the kitchen chairs and end tables I’ve somehow accumulated over the years. Not to mention the dreaded plastic container cupboard I have going on in the kitchen. I think most of it can go to the trash or be donated but it’s going to take some time to sort out.

I started this weekend in the bathroom, since it the smallest space and has the least amount of stuff. My plan is to declutter, deep clean, and move on to the next room. Hopefully, completing one room each week. I will keep you updated on my progress.

Thank you so much for spending some time with me today and for supporting the Krafty Planner!
