A Fresh Start: Your Mid-Year Planner Reset Toolkit
Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year? If your planner feels like it’s gathering dust or your routines have fallen off track, you are so not alone. Life happens—plans change, goals shift, and sometimes our perfectly organized pages don’t quite reflect the reality we’re living.
That’s exactly why now is the perfect time for a Planner Reset. It’s a chance to realign your focus, refresh your pages, and breathe new life into your planning routine for the rest of the year.
Today, I’m walking you through a simple 7-step reset that will help you get re-centered, get back on track, and fall back in love with your planner 💖
✅ 1. Reflect on the First Half of the Year
Start by looking back over the last six months. Set aside 10–15 minutes and ask yourself:
What routines worked well for me?
What felt stressful or unmanageable?
What goals have I made progress on?
What did I put on the back burner?
If you're a journaling fan, grab a reflection page from your planner or a blank notebook and free-write. Or, use a printable Mid-Year Reflection Workbook to guide your thoughts.
You can grab your copy of the Mid-Year Reflection Workbook at the end of the post.
💡 Helpful tool: Pilot FriXion erasable pens are great for flexible journaling and planner pages—especially if you like to revise as you reflect.
✅ 2. Declutter Your Planner
Just like your home, your planner can collect clutter too—sticky notes, expired to-do lists, outdated reminders, and pages you haven’t touched in months.
Take a few minutes to:
Remove old inserts or unused printables
Toss (or digitally archive) anything that’s no longer helpful
Delete or file away old pages in your digital planner
Give yourself permission to let go of what’s not serving you—both physically and mentally.
💡 If you use disc-bound or ring planners, this is a great time to rearrange your sections and simplify your setup. I love using expanding file folders to store older pages for reference.
✅ 3. Update Key Planner Sections
Now that you’ve cleared some space, it’s time to get your current pages up to speed. Flip through your planner and ask:
Are my monthly calendars current?
Do I need to add any appointments or deadlines?
Are there upcoming birthdays, vacations, or seasonal changes?
Don’t forget to update your:
Habit trackers
Meal plans
Weekly spreads
Monthly budget pages
✨ Pro tip: Use highlighters or stickers to draw your eye to upcoming priorities. These mildliner highlighters are my favorite—they don’t bleed through and come in the prettiest colors.
✅ 4. Create a Fresh Vision for the Second Half of the Year
Once you’ve reset your pages, take a few moments to reconnect with your why. What do you want the next six months to feel like?
Try this exercise:
Write down 3 words to guide the rest of your year (example: “peaceful, focused, joyful”)
Create a mini vision board with magazine clippings, doodles, or printable graphics
Or, jot down 3–5 goals you’d love to focus on through December
If you want a fresh start, you could even start a new section of your planner labeled “Mid-Year Reset” and treat it like a clean slate!
🎨 Try using washi tape sets to section off your planner or decorate your vision pages.
✅ 5. Reset Your Routines
Now’s the time to rethink your routines—especially if they’ve gotten a little chaotic over the last few months. Start small. Focus on one area at a time:
Morning routine
Evening wind-down
Weekly prep
Cleaning schedule
Work-from-home flow
Family or school routines
Use a habit tracker to rebuild consistency. Don’t try to overhaul everything at once—small steps lead to lasting change.

✅ 6. Print Fresh Pages or Switch It Up
A mid-year refresh is a great excuse to swap out some of your old planner pages for a layout that better fits where you're at now. Some ideas:
Switch from daily to weekly planning (or vice versa)
Add a goals section if you've been missing it
Use themed pages (like summer plans, school prep, or health goals)
Try out a minimalist version if you're craving simplicity
You could also grab a new cover, dashboard, or matching printable set to give your planner a fresh look that motivates you again.
✅ 7. Add a Bit of Fun and Inspiration
The final step? Make your planner feel fun again.
Decorate a page with stickers or quotes. Add a new bookmark, tab, or printable affirmation card. Or include a “just for you” page with books to read, shows to watch, or summer bucket list ideas.
It doesn’t have to be all structure and productivity. Let it be a space that inspires you and reflects your personality.
Try these:
Motivational quote card sets
Pretty planner dashboards

SUPPLIES I RECOMMEND FOR PRINTING
A PRINTER
If you’re going to be printing in color, I really recommend investing in a Canon Mega Tank Printer. The quality of the finished product is amazing! If you don’t need a color printer, I highly recommend a laser printer like the Brother L23 Series. You will save hundreds on ink. You can also get a color laser printer, which I would LOVE to have!
PAPER
For everyday printables, planners, and coloring pages for the kiddos, I normally use Hammermill Printer Paper, 20 Lb. I love that you can get a small box of 3 reams instead of having to buy one at a time or a whole case of 10.
If I want something a little nicer, I use this laser paper, which is incredibly smooth and has very little to no ghosting on the other side. This is perfect if you like to use pens/markers that are prone to bleeding through to the other side.
For printing on A5 paper, I use this Blank 6-Hole Punched A5 Paper. You can also get it without the holes, but it’s $6-7 more. Which I think is odd because it’s usually the other way around, and you have to pay more for the hole punching.
