DIY Teacher Magnets with Koala Printable Magnet Paper
Today I’m excited to share a fun little project I’ve been working on using the Koala Printable Magnet Sheets—and spoiler alert: I’m officially obsessed!
Koala was kind enough to send me their printable magnet paper to try out, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I used it to make some adorable teacher-themed magnets, and I’m so happy with how they turned out!
I used this cute design from Creative Fabrica that says “Teacher” in heart (you can find it here) and turned it into a magnet that would make the perfect little gift for a favorite teacher—or to add a bit of charm to your own fridge or classroom space.
Let’s Talk About the Magnet Paper
The Koala Printable Magnet Sheets are made for inkjet printers, and they have a nice smooth printable surface that takes color beautifully. The backing is flexible but sturdy enough to feel like a real magnet.
I was impressed by how sharp and vibrant the image printed. Plus, it dried pretty quickly and didn’t smudge, which is always a win in my book.
How I Made the Magnets
Here's a quick breakdown of the process from start to finish:
Design Setup – I started by uploading the PNG image into Silhouette Studio and creating the cut file. I kept the design simple and let the words shine.
Print & Prep – I loaded the Koala magnet paper into my inkjet printer and printed using high-quality settings. The colors came out beautifully—bright, clean, and crisp.
Cutting with Silhouette – After the print was dry, I loaded the magnet sheet onto my cutting mat and let the Silhouette machine do the hard work. It cut through the magnet sheet perfectly! (Tip: Use a strong mat and double-check your cut settings before you go all in.)
Ready to Use! – Once everything was cut, I had a full sheet of fun, fridge-ready magnets. They peel right off the mat and are ready to stick wherever you need a little inspiration.
A Few Tips for Using Koala Magnet Paper
Let the ink dry fully before cutting to avoid smudging.
Use a strong grip mat—the magnet sheets are heavier than standard sticker paper.
Double-check your cut settings—I recommend doing a test cut first.
If you’re adding cut lines, make sure the registration marks are placed clearly and your lighting is bright for better machine accuracy.
Final Thoughts
This was such a fun and easy project, and I can definitely see myself using this magnet paper again soon—think planner quotes, holiday decor, or personalized gifts!
